Mandarin Oriental will make its debut in Xi’an in 2029 – the brand’s first urban resort in northwestern China.
Set adjacent to a new park, the hotel will have 166 rooms and suites, all with outdoor terraces, five dining destinations, an art and culture gallery and library.
Eateries will include a Chinese specialty restaurant “featuring locally inspired culinary delights”.
There is also a retail boutique, spa, 50-metre indoor-outdoor infinity pool and “immersive wellness facilities set amid natural surrounds, including exclusive hot spring pavilions”.

Mandarin Oriental Group Chief Executive Laurent Kleitman says, “This is more than a hotel, it is an urban retreat that honours the city’s historic grandeur while setting a new standard in wellness and cultural storytelling”.
“Xi’an fits perfectly into our China strategy and our plans to further grow our portfolio over the next 10 years.
“This resort reflects our focus on growing in iconic leisure destinations where guests can enjoy experiences that feel both immersive and timeless.”

In October 2025, the luxury hotel brand is also opening its second property in Dubai.
Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai is in the Wasl Tower, a new architectural icon on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The property will have 259 rooms and suites, a two-storey spa and 10 dining concepts and bars, including French, Chinese, Greek and Italian.
