Minor Hotels Group Director of Public Relations and Communications Mark Thomson says the group will continue to seek out film projects following a significant surge in bookings after its properties featured in The White Lotus.
Thomson says Anantara saw “a strong uplift” in bookings at its three properties that featured in The White Lotus Season 3.
“We have had a more than 40 percent surge in direct bookings across White Lotus locations following the series premiere, and for Koh Samui resorts, website traffic doubled.”

He says the series has helped “recast Thailand as a premium, wellness‑led destination with a spotlight on Samui, Bangkok, and Thai culture as upscale, family‑friendly, experiential travel hubs”.
“The series also accelerated Thailand’s shift from ‘budget beach’ destination to world-class luxury and wellness.
“The White Lotus delivered a once‑in‑a‑decade visibility boost, validating Minor Hotels’ luxury strategy and reshaping global perceptions of Thai – and Asian – hospitality.”

After featuring in the films, the three featured Anantara properties offered a series of exclusive experiences, such as guided tours of the filming locations and exclusive screenings.
Thomson says films can also help generate demand from more niche markets, such as adventure travel around the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth set in Krabi in Thailand, where Minor has two Avani Hotels; Netflix’s Mother of the Bride for weddings and The White Lotus for destination luxury wellness.

“As a company, we will continue to seek out new film projects that can feature our properties and locations, seeing the impact it can generate for our business.”
The White Lotus was filmed at Anantara Bophut and Anantara Lawana (both in Koh Samui), and Anantara Mai Khao Villas in Phuket, which also featured in Mother of the Bride.
