Set in Arctic forest in Finnish Lapland, sustainable property Octola Private Wilderness has expanded its accommodation offering with the addition of a new glass igloo suite.
Guests will be able to ‘sleep under the stars’ in the fully glassed suite with a private lounge and dining area where a personal chef will create Nordic dishes for guests, using local ingredients.
Those staying in the suite will be able to witness the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) – from the bedroom, dining room or even the outdoor hot tub – as the skies surrounding Octala Private Wilderness are free from all pollution, so the Northern Lights are always in the northern sky.

The 52-square-metre Glass Igloo Suite will suit couples, honeymooners or a small family or group of three (utilising an extra bed).
Rates for the Glass Igloo Suite start from €7,200 (about AUD$11,772) for a minimum two-night stay.

About Octala Private Wilderness

Owned by Luxury Action, Octola Private Wilderness was built using sustainable and authentic local Lapp and Sami traditions and contemporary design.
Opened seven years ago, the property is comprised of a 10-bedroom Private Lodge, a two-bedroom luxury Villa, and the new Glass Igloo Suite.
At the Octola Spa and Health Clinic, guests can relax in three different pool settings including the innovative, Finnish-designed, temperature-adjustable ‘cold pool’. The ‘Monaco Sauna’ is named in honour of regular guest, Albert II, Prince of Monaco.
A custom-built, high-end swimming pool features a resisting-current function (the kind used by Olympic athletes), surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer views across the Lapland wilderness.

It is set on more than 300 hectares of Arctic forest. Guests staying will have access to a wide variety of on-site facilities, fully- bespoke activities and experiences, wellness facilities and Northern Lights viewing.
There are more than 35 activities offered on site including riding on snowmobiles, and children being able to feed reindeers in the woods.
Octola Private Wilderness is the first five- star accommodation facility in the Arctic and Nordics with a negative carbon footprint and a construction period that spanned five years. Around 90 per cent of the materials used are wood.
Meanwhile, Octola ́s approach to waste reduction includes composting organic waste, recycling all possible materials, and using biodegradable cleaning products. Chefs prioritise local and organic ingredients and limit the use of disposable products.

The property utilises geothermal and wind energy to power its operations; and takes water from its own water source from a natural spring, reducing the company’s carbon footprint while ensuring a reliable source of energy and water.
The lodge actively promotes the local and traditional lappish and indigenous Sámi culture, offering guests opportunities for cultural shows and interactions with Sámi people and reindeer herders in the region. It also chooses handmade and locally made products to celebrate the skills of local artisans.
