Rafael Nadal serves winning collab with Meliá Hotels for new hotel brand Zel

Tennis ace Rafael Nadal is keeping fans on their toes by revealing his latest doubles partner is Meliá Hotels International as the Spanish duo from Mallorca debuts Zel, a new lifestyle hotel brand with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour.

Tennis ace Rafael Nadal is keeping fans on their toes by revealing his latest doubles partner is Meliá Hotels International as the Spanish duo from Mallorca debuts Zel, a new lifestyle hotel brand with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour.

Zel is a joint venture between the two Spanish brands – both from Mallorca – and the partnership between Rafael Nadal and Meliá aims to promote the idyllic Med lifestyle.

At the heart of the hotel is a patio courtyard, which acts as a focus for the flow and connection and is a key architectural feature throughout the Mediterranean.

Guests can enjoy the outdoor culture and delicious cuisine with a focus on design to provide spacious and bright spaces and wellbeing experiences.

The new resort and leisure hotel concept will initially launch in Spain with Zel Mallorca in 2023.

Zel aims to open more than 20 hotels in five years, focusing on locations that attract upscale leisure travellers and ‘bleisure’ hotels in Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia. 

“As a Spaniard, a Mallorcan and a global traveller, the launch of our hotel brand is a project that I have had in mind for a long while,” Rafael Nadal said.

“Zel is synonymous with feeling good at all times, enjoying life and the way we live it throughout the Mediterranean.

“I’m confident that Zel will be a great success and will achieve considerable growth and be enjoyed by all travellers who stay in the hotels,” he said.

Meliá Hotels International CEO Gabriel Escarrer said Zel is the result of combining the tennis player’s inspirational leadership with Meliá’s 65 years of luxury hotel experience.

“[Zel is] an innovative hotel brand, full of energy, with a new interpretation of well-being and a sustainable business model, which travellers are going to love,” he said

“We are happy to finally be able to announce our partnership in this project with an icon on both a personal and sporting level such as Rafa.”

The hotel group also recently announced it would rebrand 12 Vinpearl properties acquired in Vietnam as Meliá Vinpearl.
