Royal Davui Island Resort, located on a private island in Fiji, has revealed its multi-million dollar refurbishment after seven months.
Located off the southwestern coast of Viti Levu in Fiji the marine sanctuary of Beqa Lagoon, the Fijian-owned and operated adults-only resort is celebrating its 20-year anniversary with this transformation.
Under owner and fifth-generation Fijian Christopher Southwick, the aim for the new-look resort was to blend modern sophistication with the cultural heritage of Fiji.
Renovations have included a comprehensive overhaul of the resort’s Banyan Bar & Restaurant, its 16 luxurious villas all with private plunge pools, and general spaces.

Royal Davui Island Resort says its stayed committed to responsible luxury throughout the upgrade, with all new designs blending seamlessly with the island’s natural setting and old-growth trees, including the 400+ year old Banyan tree around which the resort’s restaurant is built.
“The unveiling of this refurbishment marks an exciting milestone in our ongoing mission to offer unforgettable experiences to our guests, many of whom we welcome back year after year,” said owner Christopher Southwick.

“Our vision is to create a sanctuary that celebrates our heritage and the incredible beauty of the island, while providing all the modern comforts with heightened luxury. As an adults-only oasis, we aim to facilitate convivial social spaces where guests can mingle, while also offering a private, intimate haven for retreat.

“The new furnishings and designs evoke a sense of tranquility and serenity, perfectly complementing the natural beauty of the island. This transformation not only marks a significant evolution in our resort’s story but also reaffirms our commitment to delivering personalised attention and authentic Fijian spirit that our guests cherish,” said Southwick.
Visitation to Fiji continues to grow, as Karryon reported from the Fiji Tourism Exchange in May where Tourism Fiji celebrated a record calendar year of visitors in 2023, welcoming just under a million arrivals globally. The average stay was a very envious 9.5 nights, and properties reported average occupancy rates upward of 80 per cent.
