Fiji has recently seen a wave of luxury property transformations with some resorts spending millions to meet the mark of the ever-discerning luxury traveller. Here are six recently revamped retreats you need on your radar.
Recent statistics by Tourism Fiji show more than 264,480 Australian and New Zealand travellers have already visited Fiji’s shores this year alone, with Tourism Fiji Australian Regional Director Robert Thompson, saying the island nation is seeing a surge in luxury travel.
With many high-end hoteliers recently undergoing extensive upgrades, it’s undoubtedly going to further entice the discerning luxury travellers to its tropical shores.
Here are six resorts that are ensuring they’re not missing out on enticing the increasingly demanding luxury traveller.

Nanuku Resort
Sitting on a secluded 202-hectare estate on the southern coast of Fiji’s largest island of Viti Levu, this exclusive retreat has just completed a $12 million refurbishment to coincide with its 10th anniversary.
The refresh across all the one- to six-bedroom rooms and guest areas combines “traditional Fijian roots and modern luxury elements”.
Expect thatched roofs, private plunge pools and terraces overlooking the cerulean ocean.
Parisa O’Connell, principal designer of Parisa O’Connell Studio behind the makeover, told the Fiji Times its vision was to create spaces that would feel both timeless and fresh.
“We’re delighted to see how the balanced design maintains the authentic Fijian essence that makes Nanuku special, while introducing stylish elements that enhance comfort and luxury.”
Step inside and you can see just that.

Vomo Island
Say Vomo and for those in the know, you’ll have heads turning. Sitting on one of Fiji’s largest private islands in the Mamanucas, Vomo is synonymous with tropical luxury.
Now, the five-star property where you can easily lose your children (if you want to), has upped its family game with new two-bedroom villas with private beachside gardens, pools and outdoor showers.
Each has a spacious master suite with private lounge area and ensuite bathroom with an outdoor bath and shower.
The kids’ bedroom opens onto a private deck with views across Mamanuca Beach.
Have a cocktail delivered (or prepare one in your kitchenette), then sit on the sun loungers beside your private plunge pool while you watch the little ones play in the dedicated paddle pool.

LikuLiku Lagoon Resort
Known as the only resort in Fiji with overwater bures in a natural ocean lagoon, this adult-only retreat sits in a protected marine sanctuary.
While its overwater bures are undoubtedly the star of the show, its beachfront bures are worth singing from the Fijian rafters about – especially now all of them have had a refresh as part of the recent $7 million refurb, with 11 getting private plunge pools.
There’s also a new eatery, Saluwaki, named for the Fijian word for a collection of Indigenous herbs and spices, where you’ll savour Fijian-inspired Asian tapas.
Join the new Na Vanua Conservation Hub to get involved in reforestation, mangrove and coral restoration and the critically-endangered Fiji Crested Iguana conservation program.
The Fijian family-owned property also has a new water bottling and production plant where water will be produced for both Likuliku and sister resort Malolo Island Resort.

Malolo Island Resort
Malolo Island hasn’t lost the luxury feel of its sister property, but it’s definitely a more homely family vibe.
The resort has had a more than $3.1 million upgrade across its bures and suites, public areas and restaurants.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t spaces for the adults to relax without the playful screams of kids – just head over to the adult-only poolside terrace with its new lounges.
The property also invested heavily in technology upgrades with resort-wide, high-speed Wi-Fi in all bures (sure to keep the teens happy after a day snorkelling and island hopping).
When it’s time to bed down, sleep soundly with black-out curtains and wake to make a coffee in your premium espresso machine while the kids run around on lush gardens and lawns.

Lomani Island Resort & Spa
Fancy a spa treatment to the sound of nothing but the wind whistling through swaying palms and waves crashing against the ocean? Yes, please.
This adults-only retreat has just opened a new spa – a custom-built sanctuary nestled in the resort’s jungle landscape where you can coose to have treatments inside or out.
There’s also a sauna, plunge pool and ice bath – the first of its kind in Fiji.
For the ultimate in indulgence, pick the Dua Tale Massage, which is performed by two therapists in harmony. Bliss.

InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa
Few things say luxury like a private plunge pool in your villa, and it’s even better when the villa is beachfront.
You can have both at this five-star resort on Natadola Bay which has added private plunge pools to a select number of its beachfront suites.
Designed as a replica of a traditional Fijian village, the resort has 266 rooms and suites – all with day beds and freestanding Cleopatra baths.
There’s also an award-winning luxury spa, three swimming pools, and an 18-hole championship golf course. Multi-gen family holidays never looked so good.
