Tauck has revealed it’ll add two new riverboats to its fleet in 2027, doubling its capacity on the Douro River.
Tauck says the new riverboats, along with two new ships it’s launching in 2026, “represent the highest volume increase in Tauck’s river cruising history”.
It says it will now have “capacity to grow 50 per cent in France, and the Douro will nearly double capacity versus 2025”.

Sailing a new course
The 125-metre Seine riverboat will have the same design as Serene, which is scheduled to launch in 2026, with both sailing on the River Seine in France.
The ship’s sun deck will have a swimming pool and bar, with a casual dining venue at the bow.
It will also have a new addition, The Retreat, “an expanded and innovative wellness area on the upper Diamond Deck to provide abundant natural light and river views through full floor-to-ceiling windows, including a fitness centre, massage treatment room, and comfortable lounging area with coffee, juice, and snack bar”.
The 80-metre Douro riverboat will join sister ship Andorinha on Portugal’s Douro River, incorporating the same design elements, including Arthur’s casual dining venue with 360-degree views of the river’s dramatic landscapes and terraced vineyards.

Tauck CEO Jennifer Tombaugh says, “Guests appreciate the intimate atmosphere fostered by our ‘small is big’ philosophy, particularly in high-demand destinations like the Douro and France, where space is naturally limited”.
“These new riverboats will enable us to host more guests in these beloved regions, while continuing to deliver the personalised, exceptional experience that is the hallmark of Tauck River Cruising.”
“Every detail on these new ships has been designed to elevate the guest experience while cruising along two of Europe’s most storied rivers.
“With our incredible team on the river and ashore, guests feel the Tauck difference in every thoughtful detail and seamless moment, creating travel experiences that become the stories that stay with them long after they’ve returned home.”

Tauck River Cruising Managing Director David Clark adds, “Australia continues to be a nation of cruisers, with increasing numbers choosing to cruise each year, and now our guests can reserve space aboard the 2027 itineraries, ensuring that travellers have the chance to secure their first glimpses of our two new riverboats”.
“These new vessels represent just another example of the company’s innovation, unique access and trusted expertise as we prepare to embark on Tauck’s second century.”
