Two new river ships join Viking's ever-growing fleet

Two new ships, the Viking Honir, which will set sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and the Viking Thoth, which will sail the Nile, have joined Viking's ever-growing fleet.

Two new ships, the Viking Honir, which will set sail on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, and the Viking Thoth, which will sail the Nile, have joined Viking’s ever-growing fleet.

Built specifically to navigate the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers, Viking Honir has 95 staterooms and the same distinctive square bow, decks and terrace as its other longships.

She will spend her inaugural year sailing some of Viking’s most popular itineraries, including Passage to Eastern EuropeRhine Getaway and Christmas on the Rhine.

Thoth has just 41 staterooms and is identical to Viking Osiris, Aton, Sobek, Hathor and Amun and will sail the Pharaohs & Pyramids from Cairo to Aswan and Luxor, where guests can stroll through ancient temples and meet the locals at a Nubian village.

Viking Chairman and CEO Torstein Hagen says, “With the arrival of these elegant new ships, we are pleased to offer even more curious travellers the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most iconic waterways in Viking comfort.” 

Last month, the cruise line announced it had received the newest ship in its Asian fleet, Viking Tonle, which will double the cruise company’s capacity on the Mekong River, meeting rising demand for the region.

 Built specifically for navigating the Mekong Delta, the three-deck Tonle has a pool, spa and fitness centre as well as an open-air Sky Bar on the upper deck.
