Viking has two new river ships in Europe: Viking Annar to sail the Rhine, Main and Danube and Viking Fjolvar cruising the Seine round-trip from Paris.
Viking has added two new vessels to its European river fleet, taking delivery of Viking Annar and Viking Fjolvar.
The 190-guest Annar was purpose built for the Rhine, Main and Danube, while the 168-guest Fjolvar is designed for the Seine, where it will dock at the cruise line’s exclusive berth in the heart of Paris.

Both follow the cruise line’s signature longship template: Scandinavian design, a patented square bow with three full decks and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, and asymmetric corridors that create space for two-room suites.
Viking president and CEO Leah Talactac says, “Exploring by river offers an unmatched way to discover a destination’s history, culture and local life, and these new vessels allow even more curious travellers to experience Europe in comfort”.
Annar will operate itineraries including Rhine Getaway, Grand European Tour, Passage to Eastern Europe, European Sojourn and Christmas on the Rhine.
Fjolvar sails round-trip from Paris on Seine itineraries including Paris & the Heart of Normandy and the new Christmastime in Paris & Normandy.

The pipeline
The deliveries, hot on the heels of the handover of Eldir, are part of a much larger order book.
The cruise line expects to take delivery of 22 additional river ships by 2028, plus nine more ocean ships and two more expedition ships by 2031.
That would give the line 114 river ships in 2028 and 26 ocean and expedition ships in 2031, on top of a current fleet of more than 100 vessels exploring 21 rivers, five oceans and all seven continents.
