Richard Branson expands luxury portfolio with new-build hotel in Marrakech

Richard Branson's Virgin Limited Edition will open a new luxury boutique hotel set within a 10-hectare private agricultural estate at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in 2027.

Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition will open a new luxury boutique hotel set within a 10-hectare private agricultural estate at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains in 2027.

The yet-to-be-named 37-room property in the heart of Marrakech will have a “comprehensive wellness offering” including a traditional Moroccan wellness facility with a hammam and 40-metre signature swimming pool.

Nestled within citrus orchards, olive groves and vegetable gardens, it’ll have three restaurants, a Chef’s Table, and a speakeasy bar.

This is the brand’s second property in Morocco, following the opening of Kasbah Tamadot in the Atlas Mountains two decades ago, which was recently awarded three Michelin Keys.

The development marks a long-term agreement between Virgin and Marrakech-based luxury real estate developer Sazanes Immobilier.

Virgin Hotels Collection CEO Joe Margison says Virgin is excited to bring its approach of offering exceptional experiences and service with soul to a second Moroccan setting.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Sazanes Immobilier, who share our long-term vision and commitment to creating extraordinary escapes with people at their heart.

“We are thankful to them for entrusting us to bring our unmistakable ethos to this project and together create a retreat that is unique, memorable, and deeply rooted in its destination.”

Bookings for the new hotel will open in September 2026, with the first 22 rooms expected to open in Q1 2027, and the final 15 rooms opening in Q1 2028.
