It’s not exactly where you’d picture setting up a tent, nor does it require you to creatively find places to relieve yourself, but it’s a pretty darn special experience.
Right in the centre of Melbourne’s CBD, travellers can be ‘one with nature’ as they camp out on the rooftop of St. Jerome’s – The Hotel.
The first-of-its-kind accommodation for the city is called ‘The Lodge’ and features 21 spacious canvas bell tents above the property.

Although the idea of camping may sound a little rough for some, these tents are all-luxury with a queen bed, split heating and cooling system, a tablet loaded with movies, stocked esky (beer and cider) as well as premium linen sheets.
‘The Lodge’ comes with the best view of the city thanks to stars up above and 360-degree views of Melbourne all around.

If that wasn’t enough, the cost of hiring out one of these tents comes with complimentary breakfast and coffee delivered in the morning, as well as 24-hour reception, nine amenity units with toilets and showers, access to an infrared sauna and a communal bar area for campers.

Rooftop camping also comes with an activity-filled itinerary, including sweets and tea on arrival, a game of ten-pin bowling next door at Strike, a cocktail at Cocktail Hour, custom Gelato Messina dessert, T2 sleep-time tea delivery, and even guided morning meditation.
The hotel offers accommodation in three tent types – Luxe (4m x 4m), Luxe Plus (5m x 5m), and its recently unveiled six-metre tent, The Lodge.
