Jetstar has released 30,000 fares direct to Japan as the culturally rich island’s popularity continues to soar.
New statistics from Jetstar show a 35 per cent increase in the number of passengers who travelled to Japan on JQ last year, compared to 2019.
And that number is expected to grow in 2024 following the launch of additional services between Australia and Japan.
JQ ramped up flights to Japan earlier this year and now operates 25 flights per week from Australia to Tokyo and Osaka.

JQ said the appeal for Aussies to travel to Japan is also driven by the strong Aussie dollar, increasing by approximately 50 per cent in value against the Japanese yen over the last five years.
Jetstar noted: “With Japan becoming more affordable for Australians in recent years, the country is now an attractive new option for budget-conscious Australians”.
The new fares are direct from Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney – as well as connecting sale fares from most major cities, including Melbourne (Tullamarine), Adelaide and the Gold Coast.
The Japan airfare sale is on now until 4 June 2024.
