Over 150 flights to and from Germany’s major cities have been cancelled as a result of a mass walkout by Ryanair’s pilot and cabin crew.
Ryanair services will be affected from Wednesday 12 September 2.01am (BST) to Thursday 13 September 1.59am (BST) and include those scheduled to fly to Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin.
According to reports, the strike was called by German pilots’ union Vereinigung Cockpit (VC) and German cabin crew union Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) over better pay and conditions.

The budget airline said the cancellation of 150 of 400 flights was “unacceptable” and “unnecessary”, SBS reported. However, union leaders say “further strikes are possibly” should they fail to reach a deal with the carrier.
“We hope that this strike shows a significant effect, that the company realises the employees won’t accept rotten working conditions and bad pay any longer.”
Andreas Splanemann, Verdi Spokesperson
