Get ready to go green early in 2023. In the month before St Patrick’s Day, Tourism Ireland will hit the pavement in Australia and New Zealand for its B2B roadshow.
The four-city trade mission will kick off in Brisbane on 13 February, before moving on to Sydney (14 February), Melbourne (16 February) and Auckland (20 February).
Featuring up to 15 tourism companies, the roadshow will give travel advisors the chance to learn about the latest products and updates from the Emerald Isle.
“We are excited to be able to host this series of events designed to connect our partners from Ireland with the valuable travel trade here in Australia and New Zealand,” Tourism Ireland Australia and New Zealand manager Sofia Hansson said.
“Our sales mission across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland provides an excellent platform to meet with, and educate, agents as well as kickstart our 2023 promotional efforts highlighting the many great things to see and do around the island of Ireland, as well as the warm Irish welcome and hospitality the destination is so well known for”.
Among the organisations already confirmed for the events are Adams & Butler, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, Griffin Group, Original Irish Hotels, Powerscourt Distillery, Visit Derry, Game of Thrones Studio Tour and Hastings Hotels, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.
In 2019, Ireland welcomed 11.3 million overseas visitors to its shores, who generated over €5.9 billion (AU$9 billion) in revenue for the country.
Representing the tenth-biggest tourism market and sixth-largest in terms of value (pre-Covid-19), more than 200,000 Aussies visited Ireland in 2019.
Tourism Ireland says Australian visitors are important for the Irish economy because they normally stay longer and visit in the off-season.
Earlier this year, Tourism Ireland launched its Green Button campaign in Australia as part of its largest-ever integrated global initiative to welcome back tourists on the road to recovery.
