This week as part of our ‘Creative hero’ series, we’re speaking to Liesel Brown from Wollongong’s Figtree Travel about the travel career she’s carved out for herself.
Now a Senior International Consultant, Liesel has a whopping 36 years’ experience in the travel industry. She started out as an agent with Jetset Tours in Wollongong back in 1979 and has been eagerly selling travel ever since.
Liesel counts becoming a Creative Star Performer as one of her biggest achievements and when asked where she sees herself in 10 years’ time – remaining a Creative Star Performer is high on her list of priorities so that she can reap the program’s rewards and benefits. She loves her job and can’t imagine doing anything else.
Liesel believes every successful travel agent ought to be flexible, honest and reliable.
Building relationships with clients is also key, and Liesel always makes a point to enquire about her client’s holiday when they return. She loves hearing about the dream holiday that she helped make a reality. It’s one of the best parts of the job she says.
Liesel relies on Creative Holidays’ new online system for comprehensive destination information but according to Liesel nothing beats first-hand experience and customer feedback. She’s super grateful to have had the pleasure of experiencing some of the brilliant educationals that Creative Holidays offers.
Most recently, she took a week-long trip to Vietnam with Creative Holidays to experience the abundance of history, tasty cuisine and breathtaking beaches of Hoi An, Danang and Ho Chi Minh.
