TripAdvisor has announced its annual Travellers’ Choice Awards for restaurants across the globe based on reviews and opinions of millions of travellers around the world. The popular travel site has identified 353 fine dining restaurants as winners and compiled a Top 25 list. Claiming the Aussie crown among Australia’s best fine dining establishments was Melbourne’s Vue de Monde.
“The Travellers’ Choice restaurant winners have won over the TripAdvisor community with their outstanding food, service and ambiance – the perfect ingredients for a memorable fine dining experience,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “TripAdvisor is raising a glass to these top restaurants in the world that have delighted our community and their appetites.”
1.Vue de Monde, Melbourne, Victoria (735 reviews)
Positioned on the 55th floor of Melbourne’s iconic Rialto building, diners can enjoy a sweeping view across the city and beyond. Chef Shannon Bennett tries to create an unparalleled dining experience and has evolved the menu from classical European roots to a more natural menu.
All ingredients are sourced locally and one TripAdvisor reviewer commented, “This is unlike any other restaurant, we absolutely loved every mouthwatering meal, the beautiful French champagne, the decor, the atmosphere and the personal service from the waiters and chefs. Not to mention being served by the owner.”
2.Allure on Currumbin, Gold Coast, Queensland (499 reviews)
Located on the Gold Coast, this exquisite French restaurant grew from humble beginnings and is known for their exceptional service. Chef Bradley Hooper presents an excellent resume spanning thirty years including international and national chef experiences. One TripAdvisor reviewer says, “Excellent in every way. Can’t fault it! Go there and don’t miss out if you visit the Gold Coast and enjoy the best of everything.”
3. Muse Restaurant, Pokolbin, New South Wales (357 reviews)
In 2009, Megan and Tory Rhoades-Brown opened their restaurant amongst the iconic plains of the Hunter Valley. The foundation of their cooking is simple and fresh local produce, which is why they are a two hats restaurant.
