1. Travel Counsellors take digital strategy to next level with new appointment

Travel Counsellors have announced the appointment of a Director of Digital and Innovation as the company continues to focus on building its digital offering and innovations across the business.

The new role has been taken on by Waseem Haq, who joins Travel Counsellors with over 20 years’ experience in the technology arena, most recently as Digital Strategy Director for multinational consumer goods company PZ Cussons. He will now work across the digital and marketing teams globally from the company’s UK headquarters to develop the company’s digital strategy and the support it gives to over 1,500 Travel Counsellor franchisees.

Waseem’s role will oversee responsibility for evolving global content and web strategy; enhancing the use of data, insight and digital channels; and being a focal point for driving innovation and idea generation across the business. He will also be focusing on enhancing the customer relationship management tools for the company’s Travel Counsellors so they can deliver an even more targeted and personalised marketing experience to their customers.

This latest announcement comes as the business continues to make a number of ongoing investments in digital developments, including the recent launch of its own customer app, the recruitment of a data insight team and the personalisation of Phenix, the Travel Counsellors state-of-the-art quote and book system, using customer data in line with future industry trends.

 

2. Steve Hona appointed Business Manager at helloworld for business

Helloworld is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Hona to the national role of Business Manager at helloworld for business.

Steve brings with him a wealth of corporate travel knowledge having most recently worked with Corporate Travel Management, Steve has also worked with Cathay Pacific as a Corporate Account Manager and has previously worked within the Helloworld Limited Group as a Business Manager with Travelscene American Express.

 

3. Boxall departs Helloworld Mackay

Steven Boxall, Managing Director of Helloworld Mackay & Mt Pleasant, has resigned from the travel agency, effective 30 September.

Boxall has been with Helloworld Mackay & Mt Pleasant for the past 10 years and has left a great legacy of growth and innovation.

John Cooney will resume the reigns at Helloworld Mackay & Mt Pleasant, supported by Matthew Perre General Manager – Sales, Laura Barwell General Manager – Marketing, Groups & Business Development, Stacey Cole – Mt Pleasant Manager and their teams.

Cooney said it was an exciting time for the business.

 

4. Cover-More appoints Judith Crompton to head global airline and travel agency business

Cover-More Group Limited (ASX:CVO), a specialist, integrated travel insurance provider, today announced that former Virgin Australia Chief Commercial Officer, Judith Crompton, will join the group in the new role of CEO, Travel and Aviation.

Cover-More Group CEO, Mike Emmett, said Judith Crompton’s appointment was a key part of the implementation of a new global go-to-market approach that leverages Cover-More’s global capabilities.

Judith Crompton is a senior airline and travel industry executive with more than 30 years’ experience with some of the largest and most innovative travel companies in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.

She was Chief Commercial Officer with Virgin Australia from 2012. Prior to joining Virgin Australia, Judith held senior positions at Qantas, Etihad Airways and Flight Centre.

Crompton will report into Mike Emmett, and she will join Cover-More Group on 14 November 2016.

 

5. Centara Hotels & Resorts welcomes a new corporate Public Relations Director

Centara Hotels & Resorts has appointed Mrs. Montakarn Shutt as the company’s newest Communications Executive. Montakarn will be instrumental in overseeing the company’s brand image and reputation through PR, as well as strengthening relationships with local and international media, social influencers and overseas representative offices.

She also takes responsibility for promoting internal communications and consolidation of PR efforts across the PR, Sales & Marketing teams in Centara’s owned and managed properties worldwide.
