The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) network gathered in Brisbane for the very first time last week with more 40 industry professionals in attendance.
Held at The Point Brisbane and Hosted by TIME founder Penny Spencer, the event featured inspirational talks from TIME graduate Emily Warbrick – Snowscene General Manager, and Jan Knox – respected TIME mentor.
“To be mentored by the founder of TIME is one of the most gratifying experiences in my career to date”, says Emily.
“Over the six-month program, Penny and I covered more ground than I ever could have on my own in five years. It advanced my career and confidence in leaps and bounds. Penny continues to offer mentor support five years after I graduated.
“And beyond that, the networking opportunities and strong business contacts I made on my TIME journey are a priceless bonus”, concludes Emily.
Penny Spencer agreed, “Networking is such an important part of developing your career. Yet, a number of people tonight said that they didn’t know where to network and learn from inspiring industry leaders in Brisbane. We’re hoping to change that.”
Interestingly, Jan Knox’s inspired keynote address touched on this as well when she noted that she has found every role in her career through networking, not through job ads and applications.
A passionate advocate for mentoring, Penny says, “Developing my own leadership skills took a long time. Almost an entire career, in fact, and it has fuelled my passion to accelerate the careers of others.
“TIME is now a respected hot-house of development for aspiring travel industry leaders who have the opportunity to access the industry’s best minds in the process. And I’m delighted to learn that every available TIME expression of interest was snapped up tonight. We look forward to returning to Brisbane”, says Penny.
