The Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) headed south for the first time recently, for a networking event in Melbourne, specifically at the Intrepid Group’s head office.

Building on the success of a similar event in Brisbane in August, the event brought together a pair of high profile guest speakers, a recent program graduate, and 29 industry professionals to learn more about the renowned mentoring program and legendary professional network.

Event organiser – Brett Harvey, Intrepid Group BDM – said the event was all about connections and networking, with the emphasis on spreading the word about TIME in Victoria.

“Networking is such an important part of developing your career. Yet, there are limited opportunities to network and learn from inspiring industry leaders in Melbourne. TIME is changing that,” he concluded.

After arrival drinks, assembled guests were treated to presentations from Robyn Nixon – GM Peregrine Adventures, People and Sustainability; and Karsten Horne – CEO Reho Travel.

Robyn described her experience of starting a small tour company ‘Intergrity’ in New Zealand, and the people that helped her along the way to get to where she is today. Karsten’s presentation took the audience on a journey of learnings from an unsuccessful attempt as to sail to England an eight year-old, to becoming the respected CEO of Reho Travel.

Recent graduate, Alicia Privitera from Rail Plus, spoke of her experiences completing the program as a Mentee saying, “The beauty of the TIME program is that it’s not structured as a core curriculum. You tailor it to suit your professional needs and goals.

“Even after graduating, TIME keeps giving with ongoing mentoring sessions, keynote presentations, workshops, networking events and alumni functions which provide invaluable access to some of the most accomplished professionals in the industry,” Alicia continued.

The network next gathers in Sydney on Wednesday 25 October to celebrate the graduation of program intake no. 26.
