There should be no doubt by now that Air New Zealand is an international leader when it comes to creating entertaining yet effective safety videos.

There should be no doubt by now that Air New Zealand is an international leader when it comes to creating entertaining yet effective safety videos.

A quick look over the collection on Youtube and you can see the airline has perfected the formula to not only engage travellers with their inflight safety clips, but also promote the various destinations in its network.

The catalogue includes that epic ‘Men in Black’ video, which received an incredible three million views in the first 24 hours and promoted the airline’s new US services; there was the Hobbit videos featured actors from the movie – these let everyone know Air New Zealand is the link to Middle-earth; plus there’s been a Betty White clip, Richard Simmons madness and more.

So when the carrier dropped its newest safety video last week, Safety in Hollywood featuring Anna Faris and Rhys Darby, million of people were once again keen to check it out.

According to the airline’s figures, some 1.5 million people watched the blockbuster, which was filmed in Warner Bros. Studio in LA, in the first day of its release.

But what was even more surprising was how people responded to the video. Some 1,300 comments came through on the carrier’s Facebook page and another 85 were left under the Youtube clip.

Many loved the video, saying it was another masterpiece in the carrier’s collection, and some were even so impressed they were ready to book (marketing team, now might be the best time to ask for a pay rise).
