A LOT can happen in a year for us every day folk, now imagine the activity an international carrier like Air New Zealand can build up.

The last 12 months have been a little wild (like a goose) for the airline, having released not one, but two safety videos (one featuring a Game of Thrones star and the other staring Katie Holmes), and it won a major marketing award for letting Dave run loose in Buenos Aires.

The carrier made the huge decision to sell its Virgin Australia shares, it was named ‘Australia’s most reputable brand‘ and it revealed plans to ditch the Spaceseat in favour of Premium Economy.

Wait, there’s more. Air New Zealand also hired two footy-fan apprentices, made a southern hemisphere Christmas carol, switched its planes to and from Adelaide, renovated its Melbourne lounge AND found a way to turn its staff into mind readers.

They’re just the things we could find on KarryOn’s website!

Air New Zealand has done a little reminiscing of its own and found that key customer data revealed some interesting insight into its passengers’ habits and preferences, such as:

Chicken is a fave

More than six million meals were served globally across the airline’s network and more than half a million customers chose the chicken. Roast chicken with tarragon cream sauce, New Zealand roasted kumara and garden vegetables was the most popular main dish in Economy class with 530,000 portions served.

As are those Cookie Time cookies

Surprisingly, Disney’s Moana wasn’t the most viewed film over the 12 months

Customers enjoyed thousands of hours of movies, TV and audio content on the airline’s inflight entertainment system.  Kiwi favourite Hunt for the Wilderpeople was the most viewed film on Air New Zealand flights – seen more than 177,000 times in FY17. Moana had the highest views by month – averaging around 39,000 views per month.

But Adele’s Hello was certainly the most listened
