One unexpected letter reminds us all to be on our best behaviour on every flight

They may not belong to us and we may not have asked to be their role models, but the reality is children are always watching and whether we like it or not, our actions help shape the adults they will become.

They may not belong to us and we may not have asked to be their role models, but the reality is children are always watching and whether we like it or not, our actions help shape the adults they will become.

That was the reminder American footballer, Mohamed Sanu Sr., and thousands of his social media followers received late last week, when the sports star was handed an unexpected letter after a flight.

The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver was disembarking what he thought was just another regular service, when a woman approached him with a handwritten note and the request that he “reads it later”.

Posting a snap of the letter on Twitter, Sanu Sr. said the heartfelt message put a smile on his face as it highlighted how the little things we do in every day life count.

In the note, the mother of a 10-year-old explained that her young son had observed the athlete throughout the flight as he studied his playbook, made “healthy choices” with his snacks and showed respect for staff and everyone on board.

She said his polite actions were an inspiration for the young boy, who also happens to be an aspiring hockey player.

“He saw you studying your plays, watched you make healthy choices with your snacks, food and drink,” she wrote.

“He watched how polite you were to everyone. He is only 10 but just made an elite hockey team and we are on our way to training in CT.”

“You are an inspiration to children and for that you should be proud!”
