Book WestJet, earn Qantas Points & vice versa

Qantas and WestJet have announced an extension to their code-share agreement that will get their loyalty members closer to free flights.

Qantas and WestJet have announced an extension to their code-share agreement that will get their loyalty members closer to free flights.

Effective today, travellers can choose to earn Qantas Points or WestJet dollars when they book WestJet flights and vice versa.

Loyalty members can then use their Points to redeem code-share flights operated by WestJet. The Flying Kangaroo is hoping to extend this beyond code-share services, however, this fully reciprocal offering won’t be available until 2017.

WestJet’s Executive Vice-President of Commercial, Bob Cummings, said he’s excited to offer guests a “new opportunity” for them to earn points.

He sees the arrangement as a “significant improvement” to the carrier’s reward program value proposition.

“Not surprisingly, travel is the number one interest of Qantas Frequent Flyers so we know our members will be excited about being able to earn and use their points when travelling with WestJet.”

Lesley Grant, Qantas Loyalty CEO

“[Our] Frequent Flyer has more than 50 airline partners and affiliates, which gives our members access to over 1,200 destinations and this partnership with WestJet opens up even more new routes for them to fly while earning and using their Qantas Points.”
