Brisbane, keep an eye out for newly re-styled cabins, seats with tablet holders and greater cabin humidity as Cathay Pacific sends the first A350 to the city.

The carrier announced today it would replace current aircraft on Brisbane-Hong Kong services with the technologically advanced A350-900, which will not only introduce new levels of comfort but increase capacity on the route by 12 percent.

Commencing March 2017, the aircraft will fly daily on the route offering guests the classes – Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.

All seats on the aircraft come with the latest high-definition touchscreen personal TVs and a greater selection of movies, TV, live news channels and music; plus there’s LED mood lighting and larger than average overhead lockers.

Greater cabin humidity on board will reduce guest jetlag, while lower cabin pressure and lower noise levels will help them sleep a little easier.

Other highlights of the aircraft include leg rest, ergonomically design seats and six-way headrest for Premium Economy passengers, as well as tablet holders, in-seat power and USB ports  for Economy and Premium Economy guests.

Nelson Chin, General Manager – Southwest Pacific, Cathay Pacific, said the airline is “thrilled” to be the first to introduce the aircraft on services to Brisbane and offer passengers a “superior air travel experience”.

“This aircraft is the latest word in comfort, safety and new technology in the sky.”

“The A350 is also bigger than the previous aircraft and will bring in over 10,000 new inbound seats per year to deliver visitors and business people to Brisbane and across Queensland.

“Hong Kong is one of the great travel hubs of the world and a gateway to mainland China, which is our fastest growing major market.”

The new aircraft will operate daily on CX156 departing at 0055 and arriving into Hong Kong at 07.35.  From Hong Kong, Brisbane passengers can connect to over 170 destinations around the world on the Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon network.
