Qantas returns to Bali for the summer

The Flying Kangaroo is heading back to one of Australia's favourite travel destinations for the second time this summer in order to meet demand over the peak period.

The Flying Kangaroo is heading back to one of Australia’s favourite travel destinations for the second time this summer in order to meet demand over the peak period.

Commencing 14 December 2016 to 5 February 2017, Qantas will fly five times weekly between Sydney to Denpasar.

The resumption of the seasonal service is part of a demand-led Asia-Pacific capacity increase that will see the airline fly four extra services between Perth and Singapore from 12 December to 6 February as well as one extra flight per week between Sydney and Manila from 15 December to 19 January.

Other seasonal updates include four extra flights between Brisbane and Christchurch from 30 October and daily Melbourne-Christchurch services from 4 December.

In Papua New Guinea, the carrier will shift its Cairns-Port Moresby flights to Brisbane-Port Moresby from 30 October.

According to the airline, in order to increase international capacity it has had to reduce domestic services and concentrate on efficient aircraft utilisation, such as the redeployment of the Boeing 737 from domestic to international services. In order to match the capacity, the airline will operate the two-class Boeing 717 on Adelaide-Brisbane, Brisbane-Townsville and Brisbane-Mt Isa routes.

Qantas’ B717 fleet will also be used to operate a new seasonal Melbourne-Maroochydore service over December and January.
