Services to and from Queenstown Airport are operating as normal today after a security threat forced officials to evacuate the gateway on Sunday.
Passengers waited in freezing temperatures late yesterday while officials investigated the content on a threatening note discovered by a cleaner on a Qantas plane after it had landed in the South Island.
The handwritten message is believed to have indicated that a bomb was on the aircraft, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The gateway was evacuated immediately after the discovery, forcing airlines to delay and cancel several services.
In a statement, New Zealand Police said “nothing of interest” had been found during their investigations. They said the investigation was ongoing as they were trying to locate the person behind the note.
“Police are continuing to investigate this incident.”

In a post on Twitter, Queenstown Airport confirmed to followers that operations had resumed and are “fully operational”.

One holidaymaker scheduled to fly out of Queenstown yesterday, told KarryOn some travellers were told to wait on the tarmac while investigations took place.
