American Sniper, the MA+15 movie loosely based on America’s deadliest marksman who killed 255 people during four tours in the Iraq War, was the number one watched movie on the Flying Kangaroo’s domestic and international flights, News.com.au reported.

Perhaps after viewing the violent movie passengers were looking for something a little light and humorous, because the adorable minons managed to make Despicable Me 2 the second most viewed movie on Qantas planes.

Returning to action and drama, Take 3 and The Wolf of Wall Street made up third and fourth place while the Snow Queen, Elsa and her sister Anna in Frozen rounded up the list of top five.

In the TV department, Qantas’ new partnership with HBO is certainly keeping guests occupied, with Game of Thrones topping the list of most-viewed shows.

This was followed by comedy series The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family, while HBO’s Sex and the City landed in fourth place.

Qantas’ Head of Digital and Entertainment, Jo Boundy, said the airline is continuously investing to develop its inflight entertainment. This includes uploading some 80 hours of new content every month.

“Even our most regular flyers can enjoy new TV Shows and movies each time they fly.”

In the lead up to the holiday period, Boundy said the airline will refresh content with a few festive favourites including Love Actually, Jingle All the Way and The Family Stone.

According to the head of entertainment, most flyers tend to watch TV shows or movies during afternoon flights while news, sport and weather updates are preferred during the day.
