The weirdest things Aussies sneak onto planes

Some of us like to pack a little chocolate into our carry on for a mid-flight treat, but one guy has admitted to taking an entire 3kg bucket of Nutella on a plane.

Uhhh no judgement (drenched with judgement), but a normal jar isn’t enough?

There’s the usual list of inflight requirements – change of clothing, toothbrush, laptop – and then there’s this.

Wotif.com surveyed its users to find what most of them are packing into their carry on luggage, and around one in five had admitted to taking “most unusual” items.

Aside from the over-sized Nutella (don’t get us wrong, we’re Nutellaholics too but 3kg!), one respondent admitted to BYO lobster, by sneaking his own live shellfish on a flight.

Another user couldn’t part with his (or her) Star Wars memorabilia and had to take their collectible lightsaber on holidays while another traveller (somehow) took a Ginger bread house on board.

Apparently some holidaymakers don’t trust that hotels are equipped with furniture and have confessed to flying with neon light up flamingos, marble table lamps (and shade) plus a barbeque plate.

Despite airline efforts to improve inflight meals, there’s evidently a few travellers that would rather bring their own meals. Wotif users say they’ve spotted fellow travellers sneak on various types of food including one who took on a whole pizza (our new best friend – where he at?), a bag of rice, smelly cheese and a whole cooked chicken.

What’s the weirdest item you’ve ever taken on a flight?
