Late last year, Steve Odell, a cruising expert with Silversea, Celebrity and Royal Viking on his resume, stepped in to head Australia’s very first Norwegian Cruise Line office.

The Sydney-based branch opened with only six executives and now houses a team of around 50 specialising in marketing, PR and sales.

The team is responsible for building Norwegian Cruise Line’s local presence and from 1 April they’ll also be in charge of promoting the company’s two luxury brands – Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas.

Speaking at a media event aboard Oceania Marina in Sydney this week, Odell, the Managing Director Asia Pacific, said having all three brands in house is a “fantastic proposition” for the line and for agents.

“The three brands are so different they compliment each other.”

“They suite different markets and having them under one building will allow us to organise cross activities.

More importantly, he said it’ll give the office a chance to bring all three brands to more agencies across the country and help agents sell the product.
