For me, no visit to New York is ever the same. It is a city full of inspiration that always leaves a mark on me.

A city with an endless energy that lets me feel like I’m constantly discovering new gems, over and over again. It’s not easy limiting yourself to 12 favourite spots, but I do really love a good list, so here it goes, 12 spots you need to see on your next trip to New York:

1. Red Rooster Harlem

An unforgettable experience in the midst of Harlem’s famous vibes. Delicious food, an inspiring atmosphere and captivating DJ’s.

2. Gin Fizz

A fantastic Jazz Club in Harlem. When in town you can find me here on Thursday nights, enjoying the Harlem Sessions. Artist after artist will drop by the podium – many of whom performed that same night in the city -together creating a swinging ensemble of live music.

3. 9/11 Memorial Museum

A very impressive and respectful monument and museum for the tragic victims of terrorism, for the hope and belief in the power of humankind.

4. Hotel The William Vale

newyork the william vale hotel

Brand new upscale hotel right in the heart of Williamsburg, which is getting more hip and lively by the day. It boasts design rooms completed with a balcony and an impressive view over Manhattan.

5. Hotel The Marmara Park Avenue

Midtown Manhattan’s latest hotspot. Impeccable design and comfortable rooms to recharge and relax in. Don’t forget your swimming gear, because you won’t want to miss the gorgeous spa and swimming pool.

6. Hotel Wythe

Found in the cool Williamsburg borough this place is as trendy as it gets. It’s also great to just enjoy a drink or a bite and in the summer, you can hang out on the roof terrace.

7. Barneys Downtown

8. Flight Club

Leaving New York without a new pair of sneakers is simply not an option for Fred. Here you’ll find all the most unique sneakers. You may spot a pair for $ 2750, -, but there are enough sneakers with reasonable price tags.

9. MoMA PS1

Travel Counsellors MoMa

This exhibition centre in Long Island devotes its energy and resources to displaying the most experimental art in the world. A catalyst and an advocate for new ideas and trends in contemporary art.

10. Brooklyn Brewery

A beer can be best enjoyed cold and in its own environment, in this case a brewery in Williamsburg. You can take a tour and discover where this hipster beer comes from.

11. The High Line

Travel Counsellors The High Line

A historic train track that is revived into a park above Manhattan’s West Side streets. Start your walking trail in West 34th Street between 10th and 12th Avenue and end in the Meatpacking District. Once you’re there, you might as well get some shopping done at the Chelsea Market.

12. Heatonist

Travel Counsellors The Heatonist

Spice up your food with a yummy hot sauce from the Heatonist. You can buy your bottle in one of their two locations in Williamsburg and Chelsea Market, Manhattan. Stop in to taste and chat with the hot sauce sommeliers. My favourite is Brooklyn Grange, made with organic red pepper varieties grown on a rooftop farm.
