NYC tourists undeterred by subway explosion, while the UK deals with flight cancellations

In New York City today, people continue to go about their business while also taking a little extra precaution after an explosion in the city's subway system.

According to reports, three people were injured, including the man suspected of bringing the explosive device into the NYC underground network.

Despite the scare, tourists in the city say they aren’t feeling deterred and were impressed by NYC’s swift response.

Rich Conley said he and his wife were on their way into the city to visit their daughter when they heard the explosion. He said seeing police respond as quickly and efficiently as they did gave him a sense of security to continue with his visit.

“New York City does seem to have this sense of preparedness, I mean they’re ready for just about any situation.”

Meanwhile, travellers have been warned to prepare for major flight disruptions as a airlines cancel services over a recent snow storm.

London gateway, Heathrow, is the most affected by the bad weather, with some 50,000 people left stranded over the last two days.

According to Express.co.uk, British Airways has cancelled some 150 flights, along with several other airlines.

Heathrow Airport issued a tweet yesterday, warning travellers about the weather’s impact and advising them to check the status of their flight before making their way to the airport.

“The safety and comfort of our passengers is always our priority and we are working closely with our airlines to ensure affected passengers are looked after.”
