Prince Harry brought the ginger glow of a bright sun to a miserable and grey NSW yesterday, when he officially launched the 500-day countdown to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.

With one talented American actress noticeably missing from his side (yeah I keep up with the British royals), Prince Henry of Wales brushed aside the rainy weather to meet his biggest fans and hype everyone up for next year’s sporting event.

“Game on Down Under,” he said to a crowd of people at Admiralty House after expressing his confidence in Australia as the 2018 host.

“I know that people across the country – from Perth to Sydney, from Darwin to Adelaide – will embrace the Invictus Games and show their support for competitors from their local towns and right across the country.”

“I have no doubt that the Sydney public will make these games their own.”

*Blushes*

Before we share more pics of the much-loved Prince, it’s important to know that the Invictus Games are a special event designed to raises awareness and understanding for former military professionals who have suffered physical and mental injuries during their time in service.

When the Sydney Games kick off on 20 October 2018, some 500 people are expected to take part from around 18 nations. They’ll compete in 10 different adaptive sports including wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, archery, paralympic swimming and more.
