1. KarryOn has moved offices

It’s a new week, we’re starting a new diet AND we’ve moved into a new office.

The KarryOn team has officially left its old digs in Surry Hills for a new space literally three buildings down.

Our new address is 402/11 Randle Street Surry Hills 2010, so please update your details for the company and feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee and say hello.

2. Tony Mayell replaces Paul Hole at Insider Journeys

Insider Journeys has confirmed a replacement for its Founder and Managing Director, Paul Hole.

Paul founded the tour operator alongside Mark Bowyer back in 1993, when the pair lead their first tour in Vietnam with a group of friends under the name ‘Travel Indochina’.

Since, he’s overseen the business’ growth from nine dedicated small tours in Vietnam to the many tours currently on offer across Southeast Asia and China.

3. Which airline just launched an 8-minute international flight?

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking. We’d like to welcome you onboard this flight and wish you a pleasant journey. On behalf of People’s Viennaline … Cabin crew: Prepare for landing.”

That’s what I’d imagine the pilot flying the eight minute (21 kilometre) flight across the Switzerland/Germany border from St Gallen (Switzerland) to Friedrichshafen (Germany) service would say over the loudspeaker on what will soon be the world’s shortest international flight.

Indeed, at eight minutes long, the flight will be quicker than an airport check-in!

4. Peru is the new, hot destination for millennials

Peru is an increasingly popular destination for Aussies especially among the millennial travellers and those with deep pockets, Australia is topping the spending charts among international visiting countries.

Speaking at PROMPERU’s industry update breakfast last week, Jennifer Pizarro, PROMPERU’s Australian Market Specialist revealed that the first two quarters of 2016 the Australian visitor numbers were 24,734 which is a nine percent increase in Australian visitation Year on Year. 

26 percent of the Australian travellers to Peru were between 25-35 years and 69 percent booked their trip via a Travel Agent.

5. American Airlines’ new safety video is so trippy, we love it

Qantas has us patiently waiting for the Aussie hottie in its very Australian safety video, Air New Zealand teamed up with a few ‘Men in Black‘ to spread its message, while Turkish Airlines hired a few superheroes.

However, American Airlines may have just overtaken some of the best inflight safety videos, with its new clip, which is serious, fun, creative and so trippy all at once, that it’s kind of brilliant.

From the moment the clip opens, you can’t help but think, “umm what the…?” because the entire 4.20 clip is filmed in one consecutive shot and accompanied with some really interesting music.

6. Hawaiian Airlines flies Turia to her Ironman World Championship Dream

Hawaiian Airlines and Hawaii Tourism Oceania have announced their support for amazing and inspirational Turia Pitt by arranging her and her fiance’s travel to Hawaii where she’ll compete in the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona.

The carrier’s Regional Director Australia Gai Tyrrell said the airline was delighted to provide its support to Turia’s Ironman World Championship dream.

“Like so many Australians we admire her spirit immensely and cannot wait to welcome her and Michael on board their first flight to Hawaii. Their story of dedication and heroic tenacity through adversity continues to inspire people around the world,” she said.

 

7. MTA receives Insight Vacations ‘Elite Agency Award’ accolade

MTA has taken out the Insight Vacations ‘Elite Agency Award’ for the third year in a row as this year’s Insight Vacations High Achievers Awards dinner taking place in Brisbane.

The home-based agency received the accolade for its high volume sales.

Adding further reasons to celebrate on the night, MTA also received recognition to mark its double achievement in becoming one of Insight Vacations’ top five best product sellers nationally and top three in Queensland.

 

8. Helloworld Agents explore Broome

Happy Monday from a sunny Broome where helloworld Agents recently spent a weekend taking camel rides along the beach at sunset, exploring the Willie Creek Pearl Farm and more.

The famil organised by Qantas, saw 15 lucky Agents enjoy what has been described as a ‘fabulous’ getaway to sample the delights of Broome.

9. Wendy Wu kicks off new major campaign

It started with the return of the company’s popular animation (she made her comeback on Friday) and continues on today, with a new major campaign.

The Asia company’s new-look 2017 brochures are on their way to Agents and come with the promise of making it easier for consultants to book Asia for their clients.

Agents can also expect a few treats of their own, with a few upcoming competitions – keep an eye on KarryOn to find out how you can be in the running.
