A competitive day at the TravelManagers Conference

The stakes were high in Adelaide today as TravelManagers moved into the second day of their annual conference.

The stakes were high in Adelaide today as TravelManagers moved into the second day of their annual conference.

Far from a usual Saturday cleaning the house, playing with the kids or just relaxing, Personal Travel Managers (PTMs) spent the day learning about new and familiar products.

This year, around 31 suppliers were on-hand offering one-on-one suppler ‘Show & Tell’ sessions. Agents were able to pick up brochures, info packs and even some chocolates as they made their way around the room.

On the go tours

Among the suppliers on-show this year was Virgin Australia, which had its Business Class seat on-hand, giving agents the opportunity to experience the product for themselves before selling it to clients.

The new wide-body class features a full lie-back bed and will be available on domestic flights across the airline’s A330 fleet from October this year.

APT and Qantas Holidays took the stage today to update agents on their products during their 15-minute supplier presentations.

After supplier updates, agents made their way to separate conference rooms for business tips during the ‘Focus’ workshops. The ‘Focus’ sessions touched on the topics of cruising, finances and more.

Bringing the information part of the conference to an end was health specialist, Teresa Boyce, who gave a keynote speech on ‘Focus on Wellness’.

And just when agents thought they were ready to hit the sack, they were re-energised and told to put on their favourite sports gear for a night at the Adelaide Oval.

Sports

A truly unique experience, PTMs not only walked alongside the famous field but some even got to touch the turf, which has hosted hundreds of Aussie cricket matches.

With everyone dressed so casually in their favourite sport team’s jersey or as their favourite sports stars, it was a great opportunity (and location) to take an epic picture of the entire group.

Surprisingly, it didn’t take too long to get 270 people to gather and pose for the pic :).

Once the formal part of evening was done, agents made their way to the Oval’s events room for a buffet.

Between dinner and dessert, Adelaide-born race car driver, Nick Percat, took to the stage where he shared a little bit about his focus on becoming one of Australia’s best.

Roger Rasheed

This was followed by a hilarious interview with tennis coach extraordinaire, Roger Rasheed, who gave his humorous and perhaps a little controversial opinions about some of Australia’s up and coming tennis players.
