Best ways to save on flights, apparently using Travel Agents isn't one

Cue sympathy... now. Apparently there are a few people out there that missed the 2018 memo on how helpful and affordable consultants can be.

Awww, we feel bad for them because clearly they haven’t realised the benefits of Travel Agents.

A UK consumer group called ‘Which?‘ recently gave The Daily Mail a few tips on how their readers can save on future flights.

A great idea, especially as the Easter holidays (already!) isn’t that far away and people are starting to look for short escapes.

In the website’s advice, Which? suggested holiday planners consider five things when looking for great airfare deals: setting up price alerts, being flexible with travel dates, looking at alternatives (such as secondary airports), avoiding airline extras and being in the know by signing up for deal emails.

Honestly, they’re great tips because if getting the best air deal is important then it’ll help to keep an eye on fares, compare different offers, open yourself up to off-season travel and consider different travel routes.

However, there is one other way travellers can save on flights that didn’t seem to make the list – BY USING TRAVEL AGENTS.

A good consultant will be in the loop on the best industry deals, such as free flights to Japan and China when booking a Wendy Wu Tours itinerary, $999 return fares or free flights to the USA and Canada when booking Insight Vacations or a Contiki trip, and more.

If that’s not enough, Helloworld Travel’s David Padman says consultants are “back in fashion” this year because travellers are seeing they’re someone they can rely on to provide expertise and fix things when they go wrong (such as when a $5,000 online accommodation booking isn’t legit).
