For some, there is nothing worse than boarding a flight to find themselves sitting next to or within a five-row radius of a crying baby.
The moment you see the little bundle of joy (or terror, depending on your luck) you know you’ll either have an easy flight or disembark hours later on the verge of spilling your own tears.
Fortunately, JetBlue found a way to turn the shrills from restless children into a bit of a blessing by offering discounted flights to those onboard.
The special promotion was restricted to one flight from New York to Long Beach ahead of Mother’s Day to acknowledge the struggles of travelling parents and urge others to offer their support.
Captured on video, travellers were clearly irritated to be seated next to youngsters, until JetBlue staff switched on the PA to announce everyone would receive 25 percent off their next flight every time a baby on board cried.
“We all know when you’re flying with babies it can be hard on all of us this will be the very first flight where crying babies is a good thing.”
JetBlue
“Every time a baby on this flight cries you’ll receive 25 percent off your next JetBlue flight, in other words four cries is the equivalent to a free ticket.”
Needless to say all attitudes drastically changed. People started interacting with children, smiling at parents and there were even applauds when a child’s cries could be heard.
By the end of the special flight all passengers walked away with a free ticket, thanks to young Max who delivered the fourth cry.
