They’re the ones busily working behind the scenes, pulling strings left, right and centre to save the day for their clients. They’re the unsung heroes of the world, worthy of praise and recognition.
These are the Travel Agents that moonlight as superheroes, take a quick nap, and then do it all over again during office hours. And these are the Travel Agents that we like to feature on our Travel Agent to the Rescue series here at KarryOn.
This week we’re lucky to have Jennifer McCullough from MTA Travel share one of her rescue stories.
Her story exemplifies two of the most important qualities any budding superhero must have: the ability to come to the rescue at the speed of sound (that’s like really fast!) and the extraordinary tenacity to stay the course until the situation is resolved.
Show us how it’s done Jennifer!

Over Christmas, my client had her passport stolen in Nicaragua. As I am a mobile travel agent and work from home, I was able to assist her immediately even though it was a public holiday.
As she was due to fly to Cuba via Mexico two days later I cancelled the flights and accommodation in Cuba (getting the majority of her money back – thanks Cuba Travel Network).
I ended up working with the client over the next 10 days to get her back to Mexico and then home to Darwin. She had to source an emergency passport and USA transit visa in Mexico, and after many phone calls and emails she got home safely, with minimum cost and a few flight changes and fare upgrades, all covered in the end by her travel insurance.
I also had access to the wonderful MTA support and ticketing team who assisted with airfare advice.
Being with MTA gives my clients peace of mind while overseas that no matter when they need me, I am available to assist and get their travel plans back on track.
I also love knowing that my clients can rely on me not just to book their dream holiday but to be there during the trip if they require help or things go pear shaped.

Thanks for that Jeniffer.
