Aussie actress Nicole Kidman is taking her duties as the face of Etihad to the next level by starring in the airline’s fully immersive virtual reality movie.
In addition to being the first time an airline has filmed and previewed a 360-degree virtual reality film, Kidman is the first Hollywood actor to take part in a new-tech flick.
The five-minute feature titled ‘Reimagine’ takes its viewers on a fully experiential journey whereby Kidman walks them through one of Etihad’s new Airbus A380s as it travels from New York to Abu Dhabi.
The adventure takes the viewer through the twin-decked aircraft and covers its luxurious interiors including Economy Class, Business Class, and First Class, before concluding with a focus on Nicole Kidman enjoying the unique features of The Residence.
They get to see the space and comfort of the aircraft in a new, fully immersive way.
Etihad Airway’s Chief Executive, Peter Baumgartner, said the carrier wants to share its story in a “completely new way” using technology that makes its consumers part of the narrative.
“The film demonstrates how, as an innovative brand, we continue to break down the barriers of convention and lead the way in intelligent communication and best practice not just within the aviation industry, but across the fields of marketing, communication and technology.”

Kidman added that the film showcased the carrier’s commitment to engaging with the public in a way that “has never been attempted by an airline before”.
“It was a great challenge but one which has definitely paid off and it was great to be part of such an exciting project.”
