The boat was headed towards Phuket when the incident occurred, prompting those on board to jump out to sea.
Local authorities told media that of the 31 people on board, 14 passengers and two crew members were injured, NDTV reported.
Six of those injured in the accident are believed to be in severe conditions, including the captain who is said to have suffered from serious burns.
The boating incident occurred in Thailand on the same day that a plane skidded off a runway and ended up hanging off a cliff in Turkey.
