Hotels across London are filling up fast, especially those around Windsor, as the highly anticipated union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle approaches.
Weeks out from the royal wedding, hoteliers say they’re experiencing higher than usual business, so-much-so that rooms are now selling for more than three times the usual cost.
According to reports, there’s one one hotel room near Windsor Castle available for the weekend of the royal wedding and it’s selling for a hefty $1,184 per night.
Other nearby properties are either sold out or selling at much higher rates such as the Windsor Marriott have rooms for the 19 May selling from $734, while The Boleyn Hotel, which is 9km from the castle, has rooms available from $503 for the royal evening.
HotelsCombined says this strong demand has had a roll-out effect across the city, with the average price for a night in London increasing from the usual $185 to $500-$567 per night.
Meanwhile, those hoping to secure a last minute peer-to-peer property near Windsor Castle for the wedding weekend (18-20 May) are looking at spending up to AU$855 for a one-bedroom apartment.
