Wild Coast Tented Lodge on the edge of Yala National Park has reopened following an “extensive refresh” that has seen the addition of new spaces.
The Resplendent Ceylon and Relais & Châteaux safari lodge on the boundary of Yala National Park in Sri Lanka’s southeast has had a “considered refresh of its interiors and public spaces”.
Wild Coast Tented Lodge is one of three properties operated by Resplendent Ceylon, the hospitality arm of Dilmah Ceylon Tea.

The reimagined interiors have seen the use of organic materials and warm textures that draw on the coastline, while dining venues have been reworked around seasonal menus rooted in Sri Lankan cooking.
Among the new additions is the Library Cocktail Lounge, a small bar overlooking the wilderness, and The Oculus, a new architectural space housing a Fossil Room and Quarry Gym that reference the region’s geological history.

Beyond the safari
The reopening widens the itinerary beyond the national park. New heritage-led excursions take in the ancient monastery of Sithulpawwa and cultural encounters along Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
The result is a more layered journey that pairs Yala’s wildlife with the traditions and communities of the region, suiting travellers who want culture alongside their game drives.

KARRYON UNPACKS: Rather than resting on its leopard-safari reputation, Resplendent Ceylon is using the refresh to broaden Wild Coast beyond wildlife into culture and heritage, a signal that Sri Lanka’s luxury circuit is maturing into multi-property, multi-day itineraries. For advisors, the tie-in with Ceylon Tea Trails and Cape Weligama makes an easy case for a longer island stay rather than a single stop.
