Grab the party poppers and start celebrating because there’s now one less queue Aussies need to stand in when travelling through international airports around Australia.
From this week, airlines have permission to issue passengers flying out of Australia electronic boarding passes directly to their mobile phone.
So instead of arriving at the gateway and waiting for check-in staff to issue their paper boarding pass, travellers can now skip the queue by checking-in with their mobile phone and adding an electronic boarding pass to their digital wallet.
Talk about a time saver!
In an online statement, Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said the move towards automating the airport experience for international travellers is a focus for the Government.
“This change will cut out the need to visit the check-in desk to show your passport and collect your paper boarding pass.”
