There’s a rumour going around the aviation gossip channels & it’s about a potential new Jetstar service that’ll see the airline connect Australia to Sri Lanka.
Watch out Sri Lankan Airlines, Jetstar is coming to Colombo, or is it?
The rumour began earlier this week when an Australian High Commissioner based out of Sri Lanka and the Maldives told media about the airline’s plans to operate flights to and from Colombo.

The potentially leaked news from David Holly was published to a Sri Lankan media site, alongside the explanation the service would launch in response to competition created by “low-cost airline Virgin Blue”.
Erm, not sure if the article is a joke or if the publication missed the memo about Virgin Blue’s 2011 transformation into a full-service carrier called ‘Virgin Australia’.
KARRYON contacted a Jetstar spokesperson who essentially shut down the rumour, saying that there’s “nothing to announce at this stage”.
“We are always reviewing our network for opportunities where there is demand but we have nothing to announce at this stage.”

The Qantas subsidiary released the same statement back in 2017 about launching flights to Lombok and we’re still sitting waiting patiently on that service. So, there’s a chance that low-cost flights to Colombo may not happen, at least not anytime soon.
