Aurora Expeditions cancels Russian itineraries in light of Ukraine crisis

Aurora Expeditions has confirmed it will make changes to its upcoming voyages that include Russian itineraries in light of the invasion of Ukraine.

Aurora Expeditions has confirmed it will make changes to its upcoming voyages that include Russian itineraries in light of the invasion of Ukraine.

Aurora Expeditions has announced that it will be removing all Russian destinations from its itineraries following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

The team at Aurora says it is now reviewing its deployment in the region and will advise its travel partners and guests of those changes in the near future.

During this time, Aurora Expeditions says it will continue to offer its flexible policies to accommodate these evolving conditions.

Any booked guests and trade partners of affected sailings will receive updates and specific details applicable to their booking, which will be available soon.

Aurora joins a long list of travel and tourism companies that have removed Russia from their offering, following the recent do not travel warning from Smartraveller.

Qantas recently announced it would change the flight path of its direct Darwin to London services with the new route flying over the middle east and southern Europe rather than over Russia or Ukraine. The revised routes are expected to add around an hour to the journey.

A number of cruise lines have also axed Russian ports from their itineraries and Intrepid has cancelled all trips in Ukraine and Russia for the foreseeable future.

Collette yesterday announced it will be ceasing operating tours in Russia through 2023 and to withdraw from all other business interests in Russia in support of a peaceful resolution to the current conflict and a halt to ongoing aggression and casualties.

The Collette Foundation has also donated US$200,000 to aid specific organisations on the ground to assist refugees and persons impacted by the escalating crisis.

If you’d like to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, you can do so through The Intrepid Foundation, which has launched an emergency appeal with the Australian Red Cross to provide emergency relief for communities affected by the crisis.
