Fiji Airways has operated its first-ever flight to Canada, touching down in Vancouver early on Saturday afternoon (local time).
The inaugural flight kicks off twice-weekly non-stop services between Nadi and Vancouver, which will operate every Monday and Friday, and marks the carrier’s newest international destination.
The first Monday flight is due to depart tonight at 10.20pm and arrive at 1.20pm (local time) Tuesday, utilising the carrier’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
The new service gives Australians travelling to North America the chance to stop over in Fiji, with the national airline operating twice-daily flights from Sydney to Nadi, daily flights from Melbourne and Brisbane to Nadi, and twice-weekly flights from Adelaide to Nadi.
‘Best value for money’
With its “multi-award winning onboard experience, including meals, amenities and staff service”, Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive Andre Viljoen said FJ offered Australians “the best value for money”.
“With the holiday season fast approaching, the timing of our newest route could not be better,” he said.
“We can now connect Aussies to Canada for the holiday season, and invite them to warm up in tropical Fiji with a convenient stopover holiday before returning to Australia well rested and relaxed.
“In the lead up to the launch of the flights, more and more Australians have been showing an interest in the new service, indicating that there is demand which Fiji Airways can tap into.
“As we continue to expand our network and launch new routes, we are creating more and more pathways for Australians to access popular travel destinations, cementing Fiji as a convenient connection or stopover destination to further afield.”
Including its codeshare flights, Fiji Airways Group flies to 108 destinations in over 15 countries including Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, China, and across the South Pacific, among other destinations.
