Fiji Airways will start flying direct, non-stop twice-weekly services from Nadi to Vancouver on 25 November 2022 on its two Airbus A330-200 aircraft, bringing some South Pacific island sunshine ahead of Canada’s chilly winter weather.
Vancouver will be Fiji Airways’ most northerly destination on its international network and the airline will operate 11.5-hour overnight flights from Nadi on Fridays and Mondays with services from Vancouver departing every Friday and Thursday on an overnight flight.
Return flights to Vancouver from Australia via Fiji are currently on sale until 31 August 2022 and start from $1,500 per adult and are available from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide for travel from 25 November – 12 December 2022 and 16 January – 30 June 2023.
Fiji’s national carrier also ran a one-off promotional flight service from Nadi to Vancouver on 9 August 2022.
Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen said Canada represents a new market with immense potential for tourism, trade and reconnecting Fijian families.
“We are already seeing a positive response from the Canada market with bookings confirmed from November onwards,” he said.
“This is a very exciting development as we continue to explore ways to maximise returns not just for Fiji Airways but for the tourism industry and the Fijian economy.
“Canada has always been a very important tourism market for us, and introducing these direct flights and services will undoubtedly drive an increase in tourism to Fiji.”
Vancouver is Fiji Airways’ first Canadian route and four North American destination, joining LA, San Francisco and Honolulu. The Nadi-Vancouver route is also the airline’s 20th direct route.
