After Uluṟu was named the world’s ultimate sunset spot recently, another Aussie contender is also keen to be known as a dreamy destination for sundowners with this Insta-worthy city beating out the likes of Paris, Cape Town and Maldives.
According to social media, Perth was named in the world’s top 10 most photogenic sunset spots, taking out the ninth spot with 42,000-plus Instagram posts and 1.3 million views on TikTok.
UK-based Titan Travel collated the data based on global Instagram posts and TikTok views.
A favourite of Aussie travellers, Bali was the world’s most-lensed sunset location, inspiring almost 183,000 Instagram posts and a whopping 19.2 million TikTok views.
Sun-drenched Santorini with its idyllic Greek Island location was the number-two sunset destination globally with more than 157,000 Instagram posts. It was also the world’s most-view TikTok sunset spot with an insane 70.2 million views.
Rounding out the top five list of most-Instagrammed sunset destinations are Ibiza (3) – hello legendary Café de Mar sundowners, Maui (4) and San Diego (5).
The US claimed the largest number of top sunset spots with Maui, San Diego, Key West and Seattle in the top 10 on Instagram and Maui, San Diego and Key West in the top 10 for TikTok.
