Explora Journeys’ latest luxury small ship Explora II has a new delivery date of 12 September 2024 before embarking on her maiden seven-night journey from Civitavecchia (Rome) and an inaugural cruise season in the Western Mediterranean.
Originally slated to launch on 11 August 2024, Explora II will be delivered to MSC Group’s luxury cruise ship company Explora Journeys after finishing touches at the Fincantieri shipyard and is identical to the 922-guest sister ship, Explora I, which debuted last year.
She will instead depart Civitavecchia (Rome) on 16 September, stopping at Sorrento, Italy; the islands of Lipari, Trapani and Siracusa in Sicily; Valletta, Malta; and Tarragona, Spain.

Affected cruisers will be contacted through their travel advisors to arrange alternative journeys on Explora II or Explora I, which is also sailing the Mediterranean this season.

Journeys start at seven nights and can be extended to 14 or 21 nights with all departures from easily accessible ports such as Civitavecchia in Italy and Barcelona in Spain, avoiding repetitions of ports during the combinable voyages.

Some of the lesser-explored destinations on Explora II’s itineraries include Portofino, Porto Cervo, Saint-Tropez, Calvi, Mahon and Monte Carlo with overnight sailings and longer stays in port.

Both of Explora Journeys’ luxury small ships will offer new immersive onshore experiences inspired by the Mediterranean destinations visited.
Explora II will sail the Mediterranean until November 2024 when she relocates to the Caribbean.
