Adventure World, in partnership with the Australian Museum for the past 10 years, is running a competition for advisors to take their own adventure to Peru. Karryon visits the museum for a guided tour of the new exhibition.

Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru are presented in partnership with Neon Global, Museo Larco, and the Ministry of Culture of Peru and are proudly supported by Major Exhibition Partner Adventure World, Airline Partner LATAM Airlines, and Hotel Partner Pullman Sydney Hyde Park.

Adventure World hosted a small breakfast presentation tour for select partners and media. We were given the opportunity to take the VR aerial tour of Machu Picchu, which was filmed by drones during COVID-19 when the UNESCO site was free of visitors.

I really felt like I was flying over Machu Picchu, and the short, 10-minute experience gave me a comprehensive overview of the topography, history, and significance of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed site.

Earlier, in late November, Adventure World and LATAM Airlines had hosted another preview event for advisors and members of the trade.

Speaking at the breakfast, Liz Glover, Head of Marketing at Adventure World, said this latest exhibition was a seamless fit for the tour operator.

“We are so proud to be the major sponsor of this exhibition. As well as the product alignment, when you realise that the vision statement of the Australian Museum is to ‘ignite wonder, inspire debate and drive change’, you can see why this is such a natural fit and the perfect relationship for Adventure World,” said Liz Glover.

Fran Dorey, Head of Exhibitions at The Australian Museum, provided an overview about what visitors can expect to see at the exhibition. It represents the largest collection of gold created by ancient societies in Peru to travel outside of Museo Larco, Lima, Peru, to Australia. Many of the artefacts come from Andean royal tombs.

Sydney is the fourth stop in an international tour organised by World Heritage Exhibitions, which presented the recent record-breaking exhibition Ramses & the Gold of the Pharaohs. Previously, the Machu Picchu exhibition has been on display in Boca Raton, Florida, Paris, and Milan.

Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru will be supported by a rich variety of Peruvian-themed events every month, including exclusive conversations, experiences, music, and tours.

Adventure World is running an agent incentive: an eight-day Peru trip for two valued at more than AUD$7,000 – simply for selling Central and South America.

Advisors have until 16 May 2025 to make new bookings for Central and South America for entries towards the Peru trip. Bookings need to be at least AUD$2,500 or NZD$2,750 in value to qualify. The more bookings advisors create, the higher their chances to win the prize. See details here.
