The highly anticipated Rosewood Amsterdam, the brand’s first property in the Netherlands, has opened its doors after a 10-year restoration.
Originally built in 1665, the 134-room and suite property is the city’s former Palace of Justice and sits alongside the UNESCO World Heritage-listed canals.
The reopening follows a decade-long restoration of the landmark building and includes 1,000 curated artworks.

The ethos of the restoration was to “offer insights into Dutch culture, presenting a gesamtkunstwerk – a ‘total work of art’ in service, comfort, art, cultural programming, retail, and design”.
Rosewood Amsterdam Managing Director Thomas Harlander says, “Our mission is to craft an experience where Amsterdam’s rich history and culture intertwine with Rosewood’s distinctive lifestyle”.
“By honouring the architectural legacy of the former Palace of Justice and creating thoughtfully designed spaces, we are not only restoring a cherished landmark for the people of Amsterdam, but also inviting guests to immerse themselves in the heart of this vibrant city.
“It’s a celebration of heritage, innovation and meaningful connections.”

Studio Piet Boon founder Piet Boon, who designed the interior, says “Stepping into Rosewood Amsterdam feels like discovering a hidden gem within the city’s heart – a place where Dutch heritage meets the warmth of modern luxury”.
“We wanted every space to reflect Amsterdam’s soul: rich in history, effortlessly elegant, and alive with charm. Each detail invites guests to feel at home, immersed in a journey that flows from the timeless beauty of the 17th century to a fresh, contemporary Dutch design perspective.
“Rosewood Amsterdam is not just a stay; it’s a story we’re proud to share with guests who walk through its doors.”

Guests can start the day in The Court with pastries and artisan coffee before exploring the city.
For those who opt to stay in, there’s a state-of-the-art gym, fitness studio with pilates and barre classes, spa and 12-metre indoor pool.
Come sundown, head to Advocatuur for a specialty cocktail and Indian bites from the tandoor clay oven before dining at Eeuwen on seasonal Dutch dishes.
